Water Weekend Turangi 5th and 6th December 2009 Another weekend of wonderful weather, company and time spent with our Leos and friends. Saturday was a day to practice in the water, and also to have a go at carting. A social evening and communal breakfast set the scene for the water tests on Sunday. Thanks to those who had a go, and to our Judge Alan Ching for his ongoing support of the Leonberger Clubs water work. Our very first - Leonberger Open Show – October 2009 Braving the muddy entrance-way, a result of recent rains, the Leo show enthusiasts set up camp and readied their dogs for some stiff competition. Our judge, Sue Swift, was presented with a handsome number of entries but we had to patiently wait till the latter end of the day for the show to kick off. However, the dogs did their owners proud and paraded around the ring in true magnificent Leonberger style. Afterwards we all converged onto Rob and Fran’s lifestyle block in Tauranga, exercised the dogs then settled in for the evening to enjoy each others company over a BBQ dinner and drinks. Results: |

Dunkley’s Expo Christchurch 1st and 2nd August 2009 What a busy weekend this turned out to be! People everywhere! Ollie and Kayla, Tank and Dozer, and Jaeger and Tia worked really hard for the Club, lying about, being petted, admired, and doing their share of tail wagging, and sniffing and licking of all the many hands and faces that came within reach. Thank you to their owners Jason and Ang, Karen and Hamish and Jo and Jonny for bringing along these wonderful ambassadors for the breed. As a special treat on Sunday 8 week old Iris turned up with her owners for two or three hours, and promptly disappeared under a swarm of admirers! What a little star she proved to be, taking it all in her stride as Leo’s tend to do. The stand looked really good, banners, flags, slideshows, movies and loads of lovely pictures made for a bright and colourful display. |

Carting and Water Weekend - Turangi 9th and 10th May 2009 We had good turnout of members despite the rather dire weather forecast. As it turned out the weather was kind for the most part.... every time we went outside to either the Lake, or started on the carting the sun would come out!!! Once again the Leos showed that they are for the most part naturals at both carting and water work, and as these picture show, they really seemed to enjoy the activities...... as did their owners. The water trial had lots of first timers having a go. Beginners: Junior: |

Leonberger Gathering - Christchurch 27th September 2008 Once again the People from the North decided to make the trek down to the South, this time for the Nationals. What better opportunity to meet as many of our Southern members as possible? So, thanks very much for the hospitality and organization of a very enjoyable gathering at Jo and Johnny's place. Barbara, Monalisa and Ebony all the way from Etterick, and Lyndsay and Graham from Australia, helped to make up very good numbers. The dogs had a ball, and the humans enjoyed a great chinwag and yummy food. The weather wasn't the best, but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits. It was wonderful to finally meet our Southern members and their Leos, and we look forward to returning again soon. |
