Xmas Party North region 2011
Another enjoyable gathering held on a sunny day at the property of Gwen & Larry. Thank you to the organisers and the attendees. A special thank you to Gwen and Larry for letting us enjoy their beautiful spot with them. The dogs enjoyed the fountain and meeting new canine friends, their owners enjoyed the lovely food and a chat. We also have a new star in the making.....Chewy showed that he is going to be an outstanding water rescue dog.

The Leonberger Club held its first Championship Show at Waipuna Park, Tauranga on a glorious sunny Sunday. An event long awaited by the members of the Club, and to have Guido Perosino judging was an honour. The day went by really quickly, and Guidos judging was entertaining, and most of all, very informative. I am sure we have all learned a lot from him, and hope we can incoporate his comments into our breeding programs.

Thanks to Gwen & Verna for the photos.
Water Fun training day 14th August 2011
A small but hardy bunch of people and their dogs enjoyed a lovely time at Jones Landing in the Waikato. Lovely hot soup and a sausage sizzle kept us warm, although apart from a 2 minute hail storm, the weather was just fine.

Ribbon Parade ….19 June 2011
We held a very successful ribbon parade in spite of wet weather which gave folk opportunity to try their hand at the world of ‘showbiz’. It
was great to see several litters well represented… a great old family catch up. We had a few frivolous classes as well for all age groups. One
in particular was a blindfold course which proved most entertaining

Anzac Bay Water Trial 22nd May 2011
Sunday the 22nd turned out to be the most gorgeous sunny day and a small but
enthusiastic bunch of people and their Leos turned up to have a go at water
rescue.
A great time was had by all and the dogs were in their element and it was nice to see a few young dogs having a go for the first time.
Special congratulations to Rob Lyon and Amstel, who aced the Beginners Test, and then almost passed the Junior requirements on his first go!! Who would have believed a year ago this dog wouldn’t go in the water at all!
Thank you to our Judge for the day Alan Ching and to Rosemarie for a wonderful lunch.
Attached some pics of first timers doing what Leos do well – Water rescue work!

Devonport Ferry ride 13th February 2011
There were 10 Leo's, 2 Leowannabe's, 22 proud owners and 100's of better informed bystanders on the Devonport esplanade on Sunday.
6 Leo's took to the high seas. Most were very brave and took it all in theie stride, with the exception of 1 large dog and 1 puppy (names are being
withheld due to owner embarrassment). The rest were waiting at Devonport ready to take on the walk, it was a very slow process as everyone
wanted to know the usual, size, weight, origin, food ect. As usual Lyn went overboard praying for a nice day and what did we get a scorcher when
all we really wanted was no rain. We planned to stay on the grass up as far as the Navel Museum but alas it got too hot, and for the sake of the
puppies (that's our excuse), we decided to stay there and socialise instead.
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Aa big thankyou to the Cheeseman's who kept the dogs well hydrated throughout the day, and for
supplying the photos.

Leonberger Club Christmas Party 14th November 2010 Pukekohe

Combined Fun day 29th August 2010
A great turnout of Leonbergers, Bernese and Newfoundlands enjoyed a try at carting, learned about water work and got tips on grooming.
The dogs tried to prove to their owners that they could carry a sausage in their mouth without eating it!! Five dogs did indeed manage it....
the rest failed miserably!!! A tasty lunch and bar-b-que rounded off a very successful event.

Dunkley's Pet Expo Hamilton 31st July and 1st August 2010
A very busy couple of days. The dogs were a wonderful drawcard. As usual they were so patient, allowing themselves to be petted all day long.

Inaugural Ribbon Parade Christchurch 27/06/2010
The Leo Club held it's first Ribbon Parade at the Canterbury Kennel Association grounds, Mcleans Island. The weather wasn't that special, but the
event was held indoors and we all kept warm and dry. Hot drinks and food went a long way to help as well.
We had a wonderful entry of 14 dogs, all new to showing. All dogs and owners did themselves proud, and both the Judge Sylvia Schmidt and steward
Glenda Brown, were impressed with the quality of the entry.
